Recent CT Oilers EHL News

02/03/2018, 4:30pm EST

The Oilers are currently holding down the 6th and final playoff spot in the South Conference, 3 points ahead of Philadelphia Jr Flyers. Connecticut begins a key road trip this weekend with two matchups at the EHL's top team, the Philadelphia Revolution (33-4-1).

Olof Djurberg and the Oilers won both of their games this past weekend, with the Swedish netminder in net for both victories. The '97 began the weekend with a 44-save effort against the NY AppleCore in Wednesdays 6-5 OT win, and then capped things off with his first EHL shutout against the  NY Bobcats on Friday. Djurberg has now won three straight games, and has stopped 84 shots in that span.

Defenseman Ian Wallgren's return to the lineup from an injury, has solidified the blueline, and the group has played better of late. Wallgren, Lapshanski and Matt Stokes have contributed offensively, while Ryan Brand, Keegan Lewis, Jake Beck and Sam Zaritsky have raised their play.  Kieran Kennedy and Ryan Kheir have been solid on the Penalty Kill.  Tanner Paterno and Charlie Wilson are using their size at both ends to win pucks.

Head Coach Karl Linden commented,"Our group of players that are here now are working hard for each other. We are playing a game now where guys are doing the "little things" out on the ice. We have started to connect on our special teams and our goaltending has been stellar in our last three games. With this said, the last month every drill in practice has been about winning and I believe it has carried over to our games. It would be a great accomplishment for our first-year club to make playoffs."

26 points in 26 games since joining the Oilers in late October.
